Congress gets relief in National Herald case

July 13, 2016 01:04 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:08 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday set aside the trial court’s order summoning documents from the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs and the balance sheet of the Congress for 2010-11 in the National Herald case, in which Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Motilal Vora and others are facing trial.

Justice P.S. Teji said the order was passed in a “casual manner, without due application of mind.”

In January and March, the trial court allowed two separate applications moved by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and summoned the documents and the balance sheet.

Mr. Motilal Vora, Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey, Oscar Fernandes and the company, Young Indian, challenged the trial court’s order.
