Centre appoints three Information Commissioners

The Central government on Wednesday appointed three Commissioners at the Central Information Commission (CIC).

Amitava Bhattacharyya, 1980 batch IAS officer; Bimal Julka, 1979 batch IAS officer; and Divya Prakash Sinha, 1979 batch IPS officer, have been made Information Commissioners.

The appointments have been made for a term of five years or till the appointees turn 65, according to an official release.

Mr. Bhattacharyya was the Staff Selection Commission Chairman. Mr. Julka retired as Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Ministry. He also worked as a Financial Adviser and Special Secretary in the External Affairs Ministry.

Mr. Sinha, who retired from the post of Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat, was earlier a Special Director with the Intelligence Bureau. He has served the Intelligence Bureau in various capacities, in North-East States and Delhi. Several counter-terror operations were carried out under him.
