March 17, 2013 02:16 am | Updated 02:16 am IST - MUMBAI:

A magistrate court on Saturday framed charges against former Congress MP and Bollywood actor Govinda in connection with a 2008 slap case.

While on the sets of his film Money Hai Toh Honey Hai , he had allegedly slapped a fan called Santosh Raj. The fan had come to watch the shooting. Mr. Govinda, while defending himself, then had said that the fan tried to get too close to the female dancers and actors on the sets and also tried to misbehave with some of them.

When the actor appeared before the Borivli Magistrate Court, charges under Sections 352 (criminal force), 323 (assault) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code were framed against him. His lawyer, Akhilesh Dubey, told The Hindu that the case would be heard next on April 24.
