The Narendra Modi government on Monday reshuffled 23 middle level officials of joint secretary rank in various departments. Those reshuffled include eight IAS officials belonging to the 1999 batch who were recently empanelled as joint secretaries.
Two such officials working in the Prime Minister’s Office as directors — V. Sheshadri of the Telangana cadre and B. Navnit of the Tamil Nadu cadre — have been appointed joint secretaries in the PMO.
Mr. Sheshadri has been posted as JS by transferring one vacant post of Joint Secretary from the Department of Atomic Energy to the PMO as per the order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister.
Another official of 1999 batch Ashish Chatterjee, also from the Tamil Nadu cadre, who was Private Secretary to Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, has been posted as joint secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for the balance period of his overall five-year Central deputation tenure up to April 15, 2019.
A Bihar cadre IPS official serving as JS in the Minority Affairs Ministry, Dinesh Bist, has been repatriated to his parent cadre.
Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS official Aramane Giridhar of the 1988 batch has been appointed JS in the Cabinet Secretariat for five years. Sayed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, a 1999 batch IAS officer of the Telangana cadre, has been appointed JS in the Cabinet Secretariat where he was director since 2014.
Rakhee Gupta Bhandari, a 1997 batch official of the Punjab cadre, has been moved from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Ministry of Minority Affairs in a lateral shift for the balance period of her Central deputation tenure up to April 30, 2017.
