The Election Commission has announced by polls for a Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal and six Assembly seats lying vacant in various States, on Monday.
By elections will be held on February 13 and votes will be counted on 16th, announced Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath.
Elections in >Bangaon Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal was necessitated following the demise of Kapil Krishna Thakur, who had won in Trinamool Congress ticket.
The Assembly constituencies that are going for polls are: Liromoba (ST), Arunachal Pradesh; Panaji, Goa; Srirangam, Tamil Nadu; Krishnaganj (SC), West Bengal; Mukhed, Maharashtra; and Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
The by-election was necessitated after a special court in Bangalore awarded Ms. Jayalalithaa a >four-year imprisonment on September 27 in the disproportionate assets case
Tirupati seat was lying vacant since December 15, 2014, following the > death of MLA Mannuru Venkatramana.
