Taking a tough stand on the proposed alliance with the BJP, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that BJP’s insistence on seats could lead to problems.

He said he would not take any step that would weaken the TDP as it would also amount to weakening the interests of Telugu-speaking people. At the same time, he was keen to ensure that the two parties emerged victorious. The TDP, being a development-oriented party, preferred a tie-up with the BJP, for providing a stable and efficient administration at the Centre and it was better for the two parties to analyse the issues and go together, Mr. Naidu said.
