BJP used money power: Rahul

March 17, 2017 12:47 am | Updated 12:47 am IST - CHANDIGARH

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused the BJP of using money power in Goa and Manipur to “steal” the mandate of people and form governments.

“Congress party had won the elections in Manipur and Goa, but democracy was undermined by using money by the BJP. They [BJP] have stolen the mandate of the people,” Mr. Gandhi told presspersons here on the sidelines of the swearing-in of Capt. Amarinder Singh as Punjab Chief Minister.

Thanks Punjab voters

Mr. Gandhi expressed his gratitude to the people of Punjab for electing a Congress government.

“I would like to assure the people of Punjab that the State will rise to its true potential under the Congress government and Capt. Amarinder Singh will work hard to take the State ahead.”

In both Goa and Manipur, the Congress has emerged as the single largest party, but the BJP quickly found allies to pass the halfway mark in both Assemblies.
