Despite being embroiled in one controversy or the other for the last few months, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa seems to have once again got a breather, with the high command rejecting the requests of the State party leaders, including Karnataka BJP president K.S. Eshwarappa, seeking his removal.
Party sources said the delegation led by Mr. Eshwarappa, which also included State Tourism Minister and Mr. Yeddyurappa's bête noire G. Janardhana Reddy, Panchayati Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar and the former Minister, Aravind Limbavali, was told that the Chief Minister could not be disturbed now and he should be allowed to concentrate on administration.
Moreover the by-election to three Assembly segments had been announced and the party, which had a thin majority in the Assembly, should be allowed to strengthen its position, and for this the “good work” of the Chief Minister should continue.
As a follow-up of the move to pacify the dissidents, the high command also deputed party general secretary in charge of Karnataka Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday to hold discussions with various camps, including Mr. Yeddyurappa.
The delegation had extensive meetings here with party seniors, including president Nitin Gadkari, L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.
It complained that the Chief Minister was not consulting party seniors on important issues.
