Accusing the Congress of dethroning governments at its whim, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Sunday asked Jharkhand leaders to recollect how several regimes had ‘suffered the agony for taking support of the Congress’
“Just recollect how the governments of Choudhary Charan Singh, Chandrasekhar, Deve Gowda and I K Gujral, supported by the Congress, fell on trivial issues at the Centre,” Ms. Swaraj said at a press conference here.
Apparently referring to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi’s JVM-P aligning with the Congress in the ensuing assembly elections, she said Madhu Koda was a recent example in Jharkhand.
“IT does not allow any non-Congress government to continue and entrench its roots,” Ms. Swaraj claimed while accusing the Congress of political instability in Jharkhand.
“Installing a minority government led by JMM President Shibu Soren in 2005, dethroning Arjun Munda in 2006 through independent MLAs and installing Koda and then replacing him with Soren again have been a few low lights in the Congress’ scheme of things,” alleged Ms. Swaraj.
On corruption allegations levelled by the Congress against BJP leader Arjun Munda, Swaraj said had the Congress had proof against Munda it would have immediately initiated action three years ago itself.
“As there is no proof against Munda, the Congress could not do any thing,” she added.
