The Home Ministry has asked the National Investigation Agency to probe the case pertaining to members of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) who were arrested from Kolkata last year.

ABT, a banned terrorist organisation of Bangladesh, has been accused of killing several bloggers in Bangladesh.

The NIA said it has registered a case under relevant Sections of the anti-terror UAPA in compliance with an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

On November 21, 2017, the Special Task Force of the Kolkata police arrested three members of ABT — Samsad Mia alias Tushar Biswas and Rizaul Islam of Bangladesh, and Monotesh Dey, a resident of West Bengal. On November 28, another Bangladeshi national Umar Farukh was arrested.
