The foot over-bridge near Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, whose reconstruction was taken over by the Army on Saturday, looked all set to be completed well within its stipulated deadline.

Main structure erected

The main structure was erected by Monday evening, with panels fixed along the three pillars to support the bridge.

The “floor” remained to be inserted.

Steps leading to the bridge from the parking side have been put in place, while work is continuing on steps leading to the stadium gate.

Even as the work continued on the bridge, trials for the Commonwealth Games went on inside the stadium.

Traffic Police personnel have been deployed around the construction site to ensure smooth movement of Games related traffic to and from the Barapullah elevated corridor.

Rainbow colours

The main arch structure across which the bridge has been built has now been covered in rainbow colours.

Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta had said on Sunday that construction would be completed by Tuesday.
