Bail for PDS scam accused

For the second time in as many months, the Supreme Court granted bail to an accused, Kaushal Kishore Yadu, in the alleged multi-crore Public Distribution System (PDS) scam in Chhattisgarh. This time, the court granted bail ex parte as the State government neither made an appearance nor objected to the bail plea in court.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau had arrested several officers of the Chhattisgarh Civil Supplies Corporation in 2015 in connection with the alleged scam.

The Opposition Congress had alleged complicity of top bureaucratic and political circles of the Raman Singh-led BJP government.
