October 25, 2012 12:38 am | Updated 12:38 am IST - MUMBAI:

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to three persons accused in the case relating to the Azad Maidan violence on August 11.

Amin Chaudhary, Umair Ansari, and Nazar Siddiqui, who received a bullet injury, were granted bail on the grounds that they did not play a major role in the incident, defence lawyer Khalid Azmi told The Hindu .

“The court noted that Sections 302 [Murder] and 307 [Attempt to murder] do not apply against them. Besides, they were not identified in the identification parade,” Mr. Azmi said.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has so far arrested 63 persons in the case. Chaudhary, Ansari, and Siddiqui are among the first to get bail.
