Doctors in the State women's hospital here operated upon pregnant women and conducted deliveries under candlelight in the absence of electricity and a functional generator.
“After a raid was carried out yesterday it was found that since December 4, deliveries of women in labour were being conducted under candlelight.
The Chief Medical Superintendent was also found to be absent,” District Magistrate Kamini Chauhan said.
Fuel ordered
Taking a serious view of the attitude of the hospital workers and the absence of the CMS, Ms. Chauhan ordered that the diesel for the malfunctioning generator be bought from the salary of the CMS.
