Assurance to Myanmar

Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, who is in Nay Pyi Taw for regular Foreign Office consultations, has assured Myanmar that Bodh Gaya will remain a place of peace and pilgrimage.

In the recent attack in Bodh Gaya, a pilgrim from Myanmar was injured. Mr. Mathai assured the country’s Foreign Minister, U Wunna Maung Lwin, that the pilgrim was not in danger. He promised to share with Myanmar the outcomes of the investigation.

Mr. Mathai also called on Aung San Suu Kyi who expressed her shock at the incident.
