March 10, 2010 11:50 pm | Updated 11:50 pm IST - KOLKATA:

Cross-border security operations between West Bengal and Jharkhand to flush out Maoists and re-establish the State machinery have commenced, West Bengal's Director-General of Police Bhupinder Singh said on Wednesday.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Singh said the “inter-State joint operation,” that was being planned for so long, has been on for the last three days. Refusing to call it Operation Green Hunt, he said: “I do not know what Operation Green Hunt is. But it is true that joint operations spanning the two States, that have considerable Maoist presence, began three days back.”
