YSRCP seeks White Paper on Polavaram

‘Visit to project site today is aimed at ascertaining facts’

YSR Congress Party (YSRC)) leader K. Parthasaradhi on Wednesday asked the government throw light on the status of the Polavaram project vis-à-vis the A.P. Reorganisation Act, cost escalation, request for changing of the contractor, and other issues.

“Thursday’s visit of the dam site by the YSRCP leaders is aimed at ascertaining the facts and letting the same known to the people,” he said while addressing the media here.

Mr. Parthasaradhi said party MPs, MLCs, and MLAs would personally see the progress of works and find where the government stood as far as its rhetoric was concerned.

One thing the State should explain was whether the Central government handed over the project on its own or the State asked for it in spite of it being a national project. The State should also clarify if the Centre agreed to an escalation of the project cost.

The YSRC leader alleged that the State brought Pattiseema and Purushottapatnam projects on to the scene by backing it up with the Polavaram project as a source of funds.

He further said that the passing of a resolution in the Assembly for Kapu reservation was so timed that it would divert the people’s attention from the Polavaram fiasco.
