Alleging the role of the Chief Minister’s family members and officials in land scandals, YSR Congress leader Botcha Satyanarayana has demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the irregularities reported in and around the city. Inquiries by the Revenue Department or the CB-CID will not be effective as they are under the control of the State government. “The YSRC has no objection if it includes land issues under the previous government too, but the inquiry should be handed over to the CBI,” he said at a press conference here. He questioned the allotment of government land on lease for construction of the TDP office and allowing construction of private buildings stating ex parte order had been given, and termed it double standards. He recalled that during the Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister, the government land near the HSBC was retained in spite of an ex parte order.

He also wondered how records could be lost in Hudhud cyclone when rural mandals were not affected. He said the YSRC had cautioned on the irregularities in the Bhimili mandal. With the tampering of records coming to light, there was a fear among the people that their properties were not safe, he said. The YSRC would continue its agitation on behalf of the people and stand by those who were affected by the irregularities, he said. YSRC district president Gudavada Amarnath and former MLA Malla Vijay Prasad were present.
