Mediator in the cash-for-bail scam P. Yadagiri Rao was remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the Special Judge for Anti Corruption Bureau and Special Police Establishment Cases here on Monday night. He was shifted to Cherlapalli central prison.
After being arrested at Aram Ghar junction on the city outskirts on Monday, he was questioned by the central investigation unit sleuths of ACB and was taken to Osmania General Hospital for medical examination before being produced before Principal Special Judge S. Jagannadham.
In his remand report, Investigating Officer T. Raghupathi Goud stated that based on Yadagiri’s confession he was taken to his residence in Nacharam and in the presence of witnesses, Rs.3.75 crore cash concealed in the loft in the pooja room was recovered.
During questioning, Yadagiri, who is eighth accused in the case, had confessed that it was part of the Rs.9.5 crore he had received from G. Somasekhar Reddy, G. Dasarathram Reddy and T.H. Suresh Babu (A2 to A4) for securing bail to Janardhan Reddy.
He further confessed that part of the amount received was distributed to T.V. Chalapathi Rao (A7) and others, the ACB official said.
The investigating agency has also seized a new car which was purchased allegedly with the money received from the other accused in the name of brother of his driver.
The ACB has also recovered Rs.36 lakh from one N. Saibaba, who had received the money from Yadagiri in lieu of sale of a plot.
The plot was purchased by Yadagiri after he received cash from Janardhan Reddy’s kin.
Meanwhile, the Principal ACB & SPE Court on Tuesday reserved its orders on the bail petitions of suspended judge T. Pattabhirama Rao, T.V. Chalapathi Rao and T. Ravichandra to Wednesday.
The court also extended judicial remand of Pattabhirama Rao to July 13.
