Women with empty pitchers seek water from municipality

May 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - KADAPA:

Several women led by CPI functionaries took out a rally and staged a protest carrying empty pitchers before Badvel municipal office on Monday, deploring acute water scarcity and lack of basic amenities in Badvel town.

As many as 675 villages in Kadapa district were reeling under acute drinking water scarcity, but the officials concerned were indifferent, CPI district secretary G. Easwaraiah said.

The protest was called off after Municipal Chairman Parthasarathi gave an assurance to resolve the issue within a week.
