Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday asserted that he would spare no efforts in transforming the State into ‘Swarnandhra Pradesh’.

Addressing the gathering at a felicitation function organised by APNGOs Association here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said while Kerala was known as ‘God’s Own Country’ he had christened the new State ‘Sunrise Country’. “All I need is your cooperation and participation. I have the blue print to make A.P. one of the topmost States in the country in a decade. The capital will be developed in a stunning manner,” he said.

He said there was no denying the fact that the State had to start its journey with a deficit budget of Rs. 15,600 crore. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that every possible help will be extended for developing the State.”

Sole objective

The Chief Minister said the onus was on everyone to work towards developing the new State. “We should not only create wealth but invest the revenues thus generated in welfare schemes. The government’s sole objective is to eliminate poverty and remove economic disparities,” he pointed out.

Responding to the association’s request, the Chief Minister said the District Selection Committee would be notified every year. “Government schools will also be strengthened,” he added.

On the Pay Revision Commission, Mr. Naidu said the A.P. government was ready to implement the recommendations. “The health cards, a long-pending demand, will be looked into. The government will take up registration and issuance of health cards from August 15 onwards.” He said that a Cabinet sub-committee would be constituted to study the possibility of regularising the services of contract employees.

Deputy Chief Ministers Nimmala Chinna Rajappa and K. E. Krishna Murthy, Medical and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas Rao, Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra, Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, APNGOs Association president P. Ashok Babu and others were present.
