The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to inquire into the alleged land scandals in Visakhapatnam will also investigate the irregularities committed during the 10-year-rule of the opposition party in the State, according to Minister for Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy.

Talking to the media here on Thursday, the Minister asked officials to change their attitude and behave more cautiously as the government was determined to take up a thorough probe into all kinds of land allegations.

Officials warned

The officials should take cognisance of the fact that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Niadu was in no mood to spare even his Cabinet colleagues, MPs, and MLAs, and warned them against resorting to tampering of records. “If the officials do not mend their ways, it is certain that their future will be in jeopardy. Action will be initiated against all those found guilty and their properties brought under the control of the government,” he said.

He said the ruling party leaders were unable to understand the agenda of the the Opposition, which, he said, was hell bent on blowing even the minutest issue out of proportions.

“Be it a road accident or death of an individual on health grounds, the opposition parties have made it a habit to target the government and attribute motives to it,” he said.

Dig at YSR Congress

Accusing the YSR Congress of being behind the attempts aimed at obstructing the release of World Bank funds, the Minister said never did he, in a political career spanning over 35 years, come across such an Opposition party that was opposed to every progressive step the government took for the welfare of the people and development of the State.

“It is high time the Opposition party played a constructive role,” he said.
