Voters in Bethalampadu village in Julurupadu mandal under the Wyra ST reserved Assembly constituency have boycotted the election en masse on Wednesday demanding BT road connectivity to their village.

Sources said that the village has nearly 2,000 voters. The villagers including women, children and youths squatted on the kaccha road in the village on Wednesday morning. They raised slogans resenting the alleged failure of the leaders those who represented their constituency in the past and the successive governments to fulfill their long pending demand for BT road connectivity.

They made it clear that they will not cast their votes until the district higher authorities give a concrete assurance to construct a BT road at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the officials concerned have initiated talks with the agitating villagers to persuade them call off their stir and exercise their franchise.
