Osmania University Teachers' Association (OUTA) gheraoed the OU Vice- Chancellor, S. Satyanaryana for nearly two hours on Wednesday, on a call given by the APFUTA.
Over 100 teachers were present at the V-C's chambers and they requested him to bring their issues to the government's notice and sought positive and early decisions. The V-C spoke to the APSCHE Chairman, P. Jayaprakash Rao and the Principal Secretary, Higher Education, M.G. Gopal, and informed them of teachers' threat to boycott all exam-related work if the government doesn't respond positively.
The OUTA president, B. Satyanarayana said that the teachers have been demanding an expeditious decision on their long-pending demands, including payment of arrears, enhancement of superannuation age and increase in block grants by the government. He said GOs have been issued in this regard but the government has failed to honour its own orders.
Prof. Satyanarayana said that they would go ahead with Chalo Assembly on March 14 as planned and they will remain absent from all duties on March 21. All the exam-related work would be boycotted from April 2 and will boycott the Common Entrance Tests in May.
