Vanpic case: petition filed by IAS officer dismissed

January 23, 2014 01:59 am | Updated November 16, 2021 09:05 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Justice S. Ravikumar of the A.P. High Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed by senior IAS officer Manmohan Singh, accused along with Kadpa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in the Vanpic land acquisition and compensation criminal case, challenging an order of the special CBI court in taking cognizance of a charge-sheet filed against him.

The officer contended that he could not have been shown as accused as he was discharging his duty for Vanpic project and did not indulge in any illegal activity.

He said the action of the CBI in filing a charge-sheet against him without sanction from the government was illegal. Justice Ravikumar said, “None of the grounds raised in this revision petition shows about illegality of the order under challenge in taking cognizance and this court is of the view that the special judge had not committed any illegality while taking cognizance of the case.”
