In what is considered a significant move, the Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), Nanduri Sambasiva Rao, on Thursday issued a UO (Urgent-Official) Note communicating to heads of departments in the organisation that two separate administrative units for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would start functioning from June 3.
The UO Note was sent to Joint Managing Director G.V. Ramana Rao and Executive Director (Administration & Provisioning) A. Venkateswara Rao, apart from copies being marked to all Zonal EDs, Director (Vigilance & Security) K.V.V. Gopal Rao, ED (HRD & Medical), M. Ravinder, ED (Engineering) G. Jaya Rao and ED (IT) A. Koteswara Rao.
This move, senior officials feel was one that was completely within the administrative purview of the corporation with no permission required from either governments (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana) and one that was originally to have happened with effect from May 14.
However, it did not happen because of the employees going on strike between May 6 and 13 (both days inclusive).
