Two persons were strangled to death near Bukkacherla village of the Anantapur rural mandal during the intervening night between Thursday and Friday.

‘Extra-marital affair’

According to the police, Jayachandra Reddy (22) and his friend Ashok Kumar Reddy (22) were killed near Kakkalapalli of the Anantapur rural mandal. The assailants were identified as the relatives of a woman with whom Jayachandra Reddy was reportedly having an extra-marital affair.

While the target of the attack was Jayachandra Reddy, an auto driver, his friend Ashok Reddy, who was a farmer, was an unintended casualty as he was killed allegedly to suppress evidence, said the police.

Jayachandra Reddy allegedly had continued the affair with the married woman at Bukkacherla village of the Raptadu mandal, to which both the deceased belonged, in spite of the intervention of elders in the village against it. The post-mortem was performed at the Anantapur government general hospital.

The police registered a case naming Somanath Yadav, brother of the woman, of Kothapalli village of Rapthadu mandal, as accused.
