The TTD has decided to introduce “quota” system in the Slotted Sarva Darshanam (SSD) for the benefit of the common pilgrim.
It has become imperative for the TTD to introduce the quota with the waiting time for darshan stretching beyond 50 hours. The introduction of the quota system is likely to regulate the crowds.
Briefing presspersons on Thursday, JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju said that while about 30,000 tickets would be made available on Saturday and Sunday, both at Tirumala and Tirupati, 20,000 tokens would be issued on Monday and Friday as against 15,000 tokens on the remaining three days in a week. He appealed to the devotees to bring Aadhaar cards along with them.
The TTD has already imposed the quota system in the issuance of the ₹300 special entry darshan tickets as well as the Divya Darshan tickets issued half-way on both the foot paths for trekking devotees. The TTD on an average issues between 35,000 and 40,000 darshan tickets every day under both the formats.
The SSD counters which were abruptly closed down at Tirumala on Tuesday will become functional from the midnight of Friday. The counters were shut down as the waiting time had stretched beyond 50 hours.
