TTD to build temple in Hyderabad

Two new gold vahanams will be purchased for use at Tirumala

The TTD has resolved to construct a temple of Lord Venkateswara at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad at a cost of Rs. 18 crore.

Talking to media, TTD Chairman Ch. Krishnamurthy, who chaired the meeting of the board of trustees on Tuesday, said that the foundation stone for the prestigious project would be laid shortly.

This apart the board also has resolved to procure two new gold vahanams — Sarva Bhoopala and Muthyapu Pandiri — for use at the hill temple at a thumping cost of Rs. 3.86 cores besides two gold ‘sataris’ (sacred canopy used by the priests to bless the devout inside the sanctum) at a cost of Rs.72.75 lakhs.

Mr Krishnamurthy, who said that the management was ready to accept donations for the making of the ‘sataris,’ declared that the present member trustee Mr. Ramachandra Reddy has come forward to bear the cost of one ‘satari.’

On the engineering front, the board resolved to construct a Kalyana Mandapam and a pilgrim amenities Complex (PAC) at Vontimitta in Kadapa at a cost of Rs. 4.60 crore, Anna prasadam complex at Tiruchanoor (Rs. 6.70 crore), treasury hall adjacent to the administrative building at Tirupati (Rs. 4 crore) Kalyana Mandapams in Chintalur and Lepakshi in Anantapur (Rs. 1.25 crore each), Pushkarini at Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Hindupur (Rs. 55 lakhs), development of infra structure and construction of new operation theatres at BIRRD hospital (Rs.7.08 crore), in addition to Rs. 4.80 crore towards the construction of wards, bio-medical laboratories at SVIMS hospital in Tirupati. The board also resolved to perform Srinivasa Kalyanam at Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya, on May 22. As part of the Sahasrabdhi celebrations of the renowned Sri Vaishnavite saint Sri Ramanujacharya slated to commence from May 10, the procession of Sri Ramanuja Ratha Sancharam will be organised covering all the 106 important ‘Divyadesams’ in the country. On the marketing side, the board has resolved to purchase 20 lakh kg of cow ghee at a cost of Rs. 66. 42 crore for a period of six months, 8,000 tins of gingelly oil at a cost of Rs. 1.18 crore for a period of one year besides purchasing vessels from SAIL for use at its free meals complex at a cost of Rs. 30.75 lakhs.

Other important deliberations include extension of the services of the potu and sulabh workers for another year besides sanctioning Rs. 25 crore to the government proposed common good fund for the payment of salaries to the ‘archakas’ and other employees.
