Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao has asserted that the State government will not hurt the sentiments of anyone while appointing the Chairman of the TTD Trust Board.

Reacting to the controversy over the reported decision of the government to appoint TDP Kadapa leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav as Chairman of the TTD, the Minister said Mr. Yadav’s alleged association with other religious faiths was yet to be established. The government would not take any decision that would hurt the sentiments of the people, he said on Sunday.

The government has more or less decided on appointing Mr. Yadav. But social media is agog that Mr. Yadav is not a ‘Hindu’ and that he is supporting meetings of another faith.

A few seers also upped the ante against Mr. Yadav. Interestingly, none raised voice against him when he was member of the TTD Board.

The government hasn’t announced anything officially so far.

The TTD has been without a Chairman for five months after Chadalavada Krishna Murthy completed his two-year term in office.

Mr. Yadav, who lost the Assembly election from Mydukuru in 2014 to YSRC candidate S. Raghurami Reddy, has been working to strengthen the TDP in the constituency. He played a key role in several YSRC leaders crossing over to the ruling party. He was a member of the TTD Board that Mr. Krishna Murthy headed.
