TRS on Tuesday demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government install the statue of late Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar on the Tank Bund Road in Hyderabad and also name a park in the city in his memory.

The TRS state executive, which met at the party office here, also demanded that the Ekasila Park in Warangal, where Mr. Jayashankar’s body was kept, be named after him.

A statue of Mr. Jayashankar be installed in the Park by the Congress Government, senior TRS leader K Madhusudana Chary told reporters.

The life of Mr. Jayashankar, a former Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University in Warangal, be included in school text books, he said.

The TRS would place a statue of Mr. Jayashankar in its office premises.

Mr. Jayashankar (76) died last week in his native Warangal due to cancer.

TRS floor leader in Assembly E Rajender said no political discussion took place in the State committee meeting.
