The torrid climate of temple city was no match to the enthusiasm of NCC cadets as they marched joyously to their respective tracks marking the commencement of ‘AP Trek 1’, an eight-day national trekking camp hosted by National Cadet Corps (NCC), Tirupati, here on Thursday. Representing various NCC battalions through their bright uniforms, the cadets embarked on the expedition which aims to cover four major locations such as Tirumala Temple, Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshanashala, Regional Science Centre-Tirupati (RSCT) and Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park.
Speaking to The Hindu , NCC Tirupati Group Commander Rajeev Negi said that such trekking camps, primarily aimed at promoting national integration, would not only build the physical stamina of cadets but also motivate them to do better in life.
In addition to this, it will also give them an opportunity to interact with their counterparts, hailing from various parts of the country. “As many as 450 cadets from seven States — Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Sikkim, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka and Kerala — are taking part in the trekking camp. This will give them a chance to interact with one another and know about various culture and traditions,” Mr Negi added.
