Transfer on health grounds: woman contract lecturer stages protest

August 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:56 am IST - NELLORE:

A woman contract lecturer went on a protest by squatting on the road opposite the office of the District Vocational Education Officer (DVEO) here on Wednesday seeking justice by being allowed to work at the Government Junior College at Venkatachalam near here.

Syla Kumari Kandagaddala was given transfer orders by the Commissioner of the Intermediate Education to work at Venkatachalam following her request on health grounds. She was suffering from cancer and had to come from Kandukuru, where she was working all these years, to visit the cancer hospital in Nellore for treatment every month. Though the Commissioner had given orders for her transfer, the same was not implemented by the DVEO due to lack of vacancy.
