Trains movement restored at Muddanur

Normal movement of Express and other trains was restored on Wednesday with railway personnel managing to place the derailed goods train on an adjoining track with the help of cranes and special Lukas train.

The efforts to clear the track of the derailed train began at 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday and was completed on Wednesday, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Satyanarayana told newsmen. Owing to the derailment of the goods train carrying coal wagons from Krishnapatnam Port to Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant at Muddanur last evening, the Chennai-Mumbai Dadar Express was detained for about an hour at Nandalur railway station last evening .

Other trains such as Venkatadri Express, Egmore Express and Inter-City Express were allowed on the track near the first platform, Mr. Satyanarayana said.

Meanwhile, the wagons carrying coal, which were detached from the derailed train, were taken to Kanumulopalle on the outskirts of Kadapa and later sent to Rayalaseema Thermal Power Plant at Muddanur by attaching two other engines.

Goods train derails

Anantapur Staff Reporter writes: A goods train derailed near the Guntakal Junction hampering train services for a brief period of time before they were resurrected.

The engine and the coach right behind it derailed close to the storage point of the Indian Oil Corporation ( IOC) near the. Guntakal Railway Junction.

However, the engine and coach of the goods train remained firmly stranded on the ground and were eventually put back on the tracks and the train rolled on in a matter of just over an hour.
