Traffic restrictions imposed on NH-5

Prakasam District Superintendent of Police P. Promod Kumar on Friday announced that no heavy vehicles from Chennai would be allowed beyond Kavali in neighbouring Nellore district on the Chennai-Kolkata highway between 8 a.m. on June 8 to the midnight, in view of the swearing-in ceremony of N. Chandrababu Naidu as the Chief Minister of the residuary State of Andhra Pradesh.

All Kolkata-bound vehicles will be diverted via Thuravagunta, Bapatla, Avanigadda and Gudivada, while those proceeding towards Hyderabad will be diverted via Medarmetla, Addanki, Narketpally, he told the media here. Those vehicles proceeding from Kurnool to Eluru via Guntur would be diverted via Puttalavanipalem, Santhanuthanalapadu, Addanki, Chirala and Hanuman Junction, he added.
