The countdown has begun for the formation of Telangana, the 29th State of India. As the appointed day — June 2 — draws near, people in both Telangana and the successor State of Andhra Pradesh are feeling the pangs of partition.
Unlike the uneventful formation of States such as Chhattisgarh (Madhya Pradesh), Jharkhand (Bihar) and Uttarkhand (Uttar Pradesh), the monumental task of bifurcating Andhra Pradesh is not without its tensions and apprehensions.
