Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday called for coordinated work between different government departments in ensuring that all arrangements were made during the month of Ramzan, starting a few days from now.
He sanctioned Rs. 2.5 crore for providing facilities in all Masjids in the State during Ramzan. He asked all the departments concerned including the police and the GHMC to see that Ramzan and Bonalu festivals went off smoothly. At a review meeting with Ministers and senior officials here, he said maintaining law and order would be given top priority.
He sought the cooperation of elders from all religions, political parties and organisations too, while asking Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty to send a circular to all the Collectors to conduct Ramzan coordination meetings at the district level.
Ministers -- Syed Mohd. Ahmadullah, J. Geeta Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu and M. Maheedhar Reddy were present. Mr. Maheedhar Reddy said Rs. 50 crore would be released for improvement of sewerage system in the Old City.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said the two festivals were occurring at the same time after a gap of 33 years. GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu said 60 additional vehicles were being arranged to clear debris.
