Tragedy struck a family in Tirupati when one of its members, Echambadi Latha (37) was killed in the plane crash in Nepal on Monday.

On a pilgrimage

The ill-fated housewife was on a pilgrimage to Mukthinath along with her husband, Tirumala Kidambi Srikanth (38) and their two daughters - Srivardhini (8) and Sripada (4).

According to reports reaching here, while Latha was killed on the spot as the plane crashed when trying to land at the airport, the other three survived. Srikanth, a software engineer from Chennai is said to be admitted in the ICU in a local hospital with critical head injuries and his condition is now stated to be stable. The two children have had a providential escape in the air crash and escaped with minor injuries.

As the news about the tragedy from across the Indian border slowly trickled in, a pal of gloom hung heavily on Dwarakanagar and in the Yerramitta colonies here where the aged parents of the couple live.
