BJP senior leader M. Venkaiah Naidu came down heavily on the Congress party, saying the time has come for the UPA government to go as there was overwhelming support from all over the country to Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He said once the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power at the Centre, it would give special category status to Seemandhra for 10 years so that there would be enough scope for creating right atmosphere for developing infrastructure and industries.
Addressing a public meeting held as part of ‘Modi for PM’ campaign here on Sunday, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu asserted that there has been a wide-ranging debate taking place among all sections in the country for choosing the right prime ministerial candidate and their apparent choice is Mr. Modi.
He deplored that though India was rich in natural resources, the country could not achieve expected development simply because of the failures of the Congress party leadership. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did nothing to boost development in the country which resulted in backwardness in many aspects.
Mr. Naidu said that lack of progressive policies pushed the country backward in all aspects.
On the bifurcation issue, Mr. Naidu blamed the Congress for not taking all sections into confidence which eventually led to a situation where Seemandhra people felt hurt.
The problems of Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra should have been addressed properly in the bifurcation Bill, he felt.
Mr. Naidu further said it was only the BJP that fought for the protection of Seemandhra interests by pressing for several demands when the debate came up for discussion in the Rajya Sabha.
