Three persons died and at least 25 others sustained injuries in two different accidents on the Kolkata-Chennai National Highway-16 near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday.
According to the police, the deceased persons were identified as Sk. Bhaji, driver of a private bus coming from Aravilli in Srikakulam district, Kalapala Subba Rao and Shaik Abraham from Bhimadole in West Godavari District.
Subba Rao and Shaik Abraham, who were part of a marriage party met with an accident while coming back from Teeparru to their native place in a van. Another 25 persons injured in the two accidents were admitted in various hospitals in Tadepalligudem. The van turned turtle after one of its tyres got punctured.
The vehicle which fell across the busy road was removed with the help of a crane to ensure smooth passage of traffic on the highway. In another accident, a private bus coming from Srikakulam to Vijayawada hit a tipper coming in the opposite direction, resulting in the death of bus driver Shaik Bhaji and leaving 10 passengers injured. Tadepalligudem police are investigating the case.
