The Tirupati Urban Police have nabbed three persons, in two different incidents, and recovered Rs. 5 lakh worth gold and silver ornaments, and electronic items, from their possession. The officials arrested B. Lokesh (20) and P. Puneeth Reddy (21) near the local Ramanuja Circle and further investigation revealed that the duo had burgled seven houses, in the past few weeks, spread across Tirupati and Tiruchanur areas. Gold ornaments weighing 76 grams and silver items were recovered from their possession.
In addition to this, two mobile phones and one laptop were also seized.
In a separate incident, the police officials nabbed S. Chand Basha (25), who was found moving suspiciously near the Anjaneya Swamy temple on Gandhi Road. The accused confessed that he had stolen three gold chains, weighing 60 grams, from women.
The officials have recovered the ornaments from the residence of the accused on Chinna Kapu Layout in the city.
Hailing from Venkatagiri town of Nellore district, the accused Chand Basha had been living in the temple city for the past few years, committing crimes.
Tirupati Crime Additional SP D. Siddha Reddy, accompanied by DSP T.V. Konda Reddy and other police officials, presented the accused and recovered loot before the media, here on Friday.
