Telugu man taking on Amma prays at Tirumala

May 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Noted Chennai-based film producer and a candidate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections Kethireddy Jagadishwara Reddy formally launched his campaign at the foot of Tirumala hills on Wednesday.

Mr. Reddy, president of Tamil Nadu Telugu Yuvasakthi, is a champion of the rights of Telugu minorities and has fought against the compulsory Tamil rule enforced by the government.

Taking exception to the government’s indifference to the pleas of the minorities, he filed his nomination from the R.K. Nagar Assembly constituency, where his formidable opponent is none other than Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

Mr. Reddy formally dropped his publicity graffiti into the ‘hundi’ at Alipiri, symbolically presenting it to Lord Venkateswara. He later offered prayers at the Tirumala temple. He is also contesting from the Hosur constituency of Krishnagiri district, which is known for its huge Telugu population.
