: Communist Party of India national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday flayed the TDP-led State government for rampant corruption and for being ‘directionless’ and the NDA government for its inept handling of issues ranging from foreign affairs to the economy.

Taking part as chief guest on the first day of the party’s three-day State council meet, which is held once in four years, here, Mr. Sudhakar Reddy said it was unfortunate that the Centre had ‘surrendered’ the country’s Rs. 4-lakh crore worth nuclear infrastructure to the ‘imperialist forces,’ minding little about the safety aspects. The companies that had botched up in the past in the U.S. would now have access to our nuclear facilities, he said, adding that the tweaked deal ensured that the companies would have no responsibility for payment of compensation.

The national leader said the foreign policy was drafted in a haphazard manner that it would buy enmity with our immediate neighbours. He said that the NDA government was pro-capitalist and anti-people.

‘Ideological warfare’

Mr. Reddy called upon party activists to brace up to face the ideological warfare waged by the Sangh Parivar on the literary and cultural fronts. He alleged that Baba Ramdev was a camouflage to spread Hindutva in the name of yoga.

On the Special Category Status, he said that a Prime Minister’s word in Parliament should be kept by the successive governments and the BJP could not hide behind the excuse that the statement had not been included in the Act. He also flayed Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for not daring to flex his muscle and instead bending over backwards to please the Centre to get what was due to the State.

National secretary K. Narayana, State secretary K. Ramakrishna, Central control commission member Nageswara Rao, and district secretary A. Rama Naidu were among the participants.
