The TDP leadership has decided to field film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna from the Hindupur Assembly constituency, a seat represented by TDP founder, late N.T. Rama Rao in the past. Mr. Balakrishna’s name has been cleared after TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu held a series of meetings with the film star as well as the party senior leaders on the issue.
Though a section of leaders is said to have favoured Mr. Balakrishna confining himself as star campaigner for the party candidates, several others wanted him to take the political plunge in the coming elections. Mr. Balakrishna called on Mr. Naidu at his residence on Monday morning and collected the B-form. He will file his nomination on April 16.
