The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) district unit plans to reach out to the public in Telangana region by explaining to them how the Congress was forced to take a positive decision on the Telangana issue with the letter of support issued by N. Chandrababu Naidu.
District unit president A. Baswa Reddy and general secretary Anisetti Murali said the TDP was being targeted both in Seemandhra and Telangana by Congress, TRS and YSRC for political gains.
In Telangana region, the TDP Telangana forum had decided to counter the bad propaganda being made against their party. “The support of the TDP is key to the Congress party’s decision on the separate Telangana issue. But, unlike other parties, we are not claiming credit solely. We stood by people and they will recognise our efforts,” Baswa Reddy said.
The district units convened a general body meeting on Tuesday in town inviting the entire active cadre. They will be told to go into villages and tell people about the role of TDP in the separate Telangana issue. The TDP Telangana forum also plans to undertake a bus tour in the region to negate the bad campaign by the Congress and TRS against their party.
Baswa Reddy found fault with the Congress for delaying the process on a separate Telangana. “Nothing has been done since 60 days of announcement on a separate Telangana. People doubt the commitment of the Congress party,” he said.
The TDP leader advised TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao to restrain from ridiculing Chandrababu Naidu and not to use abusive language against fellow politicians.
He also wanted Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy not to provoke people in both the regions by his remarks.
