Anantapur district witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday. The Tadipatri mandal and its surrounding areas received heavy rainfall along with hailstorms and gushing winds causing damage to property.

Several hoardings and electric poles in Tadipatri town collapsed, while the roof of a shop caved killing over 10,000 chickens in Gooty mandal.

While there was no crop loss in Tadipatri and surrounding mandals, the western mandals of the district such as Bommanahal and Kanekal reported loss of harvested paddy crop in several hundreds of acres.

However, the loss is yet to be calculated, according to the district agriculture authorities.

Meanwhile, for the southern mandals of the district such as Kadiri, Obuladevara Cheruvu, Nallamada and NP Kunta, rains turned out be a boon for orchards.
