AP Telangana supporters celebrate at the Osmania Universaity in Hyderabad on Thursday. Several pro-Telangana leaders have urged students to continue the agitation till a Telangana State was carved out.

A host of pro-Telangana Statehood speakers have urged the students to continue the agitation till a Telangana State was carved out dubbing the spree of resignation of the elected representatives of different political parties as a ‘conspiracy’ to thwart the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The TRS floor leader Etela Rajendar, who addressed a large number of students gathered at the Arts College on Osmania University campus, appealed to the Centre to abide by its decision and not to buckle under pressure being mounted by different political parties.

He cautioned the students not to become complacent over the Centre’s announcement and said Wednesday’s developments only marked the beginning of a long journey.

Referring to the resignations of MLAs and MPs of different political parties opposing the Centre’s decision, Mr. Rajendar said such tactics were only meant to mount pressure on the Centre to deny a Telangana State. He reminded the audience that the movement for Telangana State was a justified one and the students had taken the initiative in the current phase.

The meeting addressed by a host of speakers and attended by a large number of students paid tributes to 37 people, who the speakers said, have sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana. Mr. Rajendar said the TRS would certainly provide some financial succour to the family members of the martyrs.

The resignation of a DSP, Ms. Nalini to express solidarity with the Telangana Statehood agitation, should inspire many students, Mr. Rajendar said.

Poet P. Varavara Rao who addressed the gathering said it was a victory of all sections of people who agitated for a separate Telangana.

Advocates of Rangareddy district Bar Association and different organisations of teachers had joined the meeting.
