Steel factory at Bayyaram needed: TJAC

May 28, 2013 11:45 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:21 pm IST - SANGAREDDY:

Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M. Kodandaram said that a steel factory needed to be established at Bayyaram in Khammam district to use the iron ore being dug at the mines.

Employment opportunities

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, while on his way to Karimnagar to participate in the ‘Bayyaram Bassu Yatra,’ Mr. Kodandaram said that a number of ancillary units would come up once the steel factory was established by providing employment to locals.

Government’s claims incorrect

“The government’s claim that the quality of iron ore being dug at Bayyyaram is not up to the mark is not correct. If so, why should it prefer to transport the iron ore to Visakhapatnam steel plant? We will not allow transportation of iron ore to Visakhapatnam,” he said, adding that the ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme would be taken up in this regard. He has called upon the people of Medak district to participate in the programme in large numbers.
