State may get Rs.1,580 cr. next week for new capital

Detailed report sent to Centre on immediate need of funds

With hardly five weeks for the current financial year 2014-15 to close, Andhra Pradesh government may get yet another meagre allocation of Rs.1,580 crore next week towards fund for the new capital construction.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department which constituted Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for the holistic development of the new capital region sent detailed report on the immediate funds required to kick start the works.

While it sought Rs.20,000 crore during the current fiscal, sources said they may get Rs.1,000 crore for providing essential infrastructure in the capital area and Rs.580 crore for core buildings like Raj Bhavan, Assembly, and other important administrative units.

While the State requested the Centre to bridge the revenue deficit of Rs.15,000 and sought Rs.26,000 crore special development fund, Centre sanctioned Rs.500 crore ad hoc grant to compensate for revenue deficit and Rs.350 crore to the seven backward districts.

These amounts have been released to the State on Wednesday.

The MA&UD department had also sought a grant of Rs.1,250 crore for the CRDA and another Rs.1,000 crore for infrastructure in the new capital region in the State budget for 2015-16.

Meanwhile, the CRDA acquired 23,000 acres against the target of 30,000 acres from the farmers under the land pooling.

\Sources also said no cut off date was set for the farmers to give their consent for the land pooling.

The Chief Minister is expected to hold a meeting with the farmers in a day or two to allay any misgivings about the benefits, development share to be passed on to them under the land pooling scheme.
