Former APCC president D. Srinivas has appealed to the people of both the regions to maintain restraint and desist from making provocative statements .

Making it clear that the decision of Congress high command and also the AICC president Sonia Gandhi was final and “irrevocable”, he expressed the hope that the Centre would extend all possible assistance to Seemandhra to build a beautiful capital city. “I pray the Almighty bless the people of both the regions a happy and prosperous life,” he said.

Addressing a gathering of different sections of the society at the end of a rally organised under the aegis of the City Congress Committee on the occasion of his arrival in the district after declaration of the Telangana formation, here on Wednesday, he said that several hurdles had come in the way in the announcement of Telangana, but Sonia Gandhi was determined to deliver the separate State as she could fully understand the problem.

“Entire credit of creating separate Telangana should go to Sonia Gandhi. The five-decade-old dream of the people could be realised due to the unflinching support and determination of Ms. Sonia Gandhi,” he said.

Paying tributes to the martyrs, the senior Congress leader said that people of all walks of life contributed their mite to the Telangana movement and separate State could be achieved with their concerted efforts. Unveiling the future plan for development of the State, he said “we have abundant resources to develop the region in all fields”.

Earlier, the Congress and the Youth Congress workers gave him a rousing reception when he entered the town outskirts. After offering prayers at Saibaba temple, Madhavanagar he travelled in an open top vehicle greeting people standing either side of the road.Enroute he garlanded the statues of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
